Cover Photo Dimension
Facebook Cover Photo Dimensions
When I was creating our graphics for the All Up in Your Lady Service podcast, I created a team cover image for our Facebook team with all the "regular" requirements I utilized-- the right dimension, the best format, etc as well as it was STILL looking like a hot mess. There were items of the strong shade obstructs that were pixelating as well as "feathering" around contrasting letters and also it was driving me BATTY. Yet, guess exactly what? I learned how you can repair it and also I intended to share it with you!
Alright, so, you NEED TO make sure the photo is the right size; if it is also 1 pixel off Facebook will press it as well as your high quality will certainly go down-the-tube. So, what size should it be?
For a business page (and your personal cover photo): 851 x 315 pixels [WxH] For a Facebook group page: 801 x 250 pixels
The "regular" method to conserve anything for internet usage is to "save for web usage" as a PNG file type BUT, in the case of our podcast FB team photo, it wasn't functioning, it was appearing like this [look close, you'll see pixelation specifically around the text on the left-hand side of the image]
So, I did a little research and understood that Facebook compress ANYTHING over 100KB's in size-- even if your photo is 101KB it will be compressed as well as resemble poo.
Exactly how do you deal with that? Well, you save it as a JPG as well as manage the data dimension [see below]
These are some screenshots from Photoshop of exactly how I dimension as well as save my photos (this instance is a Facebook Organisation page Cover Photo).
Begin with the appropriate size.
Produce the photo.
Save as a JPG.
In the majority of editing programs, you'll see what size the JPG will be, in my instance it was 202.6 kb, so I dragged the top quality slider up until I got it the closest to 100KB without discussing [ya recognize, type of like the Cost is Right, ha!]
Alright, I reduced the file size to 99KB and below is the new screenshot of exactly what our group image resembled ... BETTER!
In full disclosure, we really altered our brand around a bit hereafter all decreased, so this is the real present images on our group page-- however still, no pixelation.
There you have it! Exactly how you could prevent the ever-so-present pixelation in Facebook cover images.
